Your Privacy
How we collect, use, and protect your information. Plain language, all sections.
Effective date: June 6, 2026
Believe Detox Center (“Believe Detox Center”, “we”, “our”) operates this website and the related medical detoxification services. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have about it.
If you are or become a patient at Believe Detox Center, additional HIPAA protections apply to your Protected Health Information — described in the dedicated Notice of Privacy Practices provided at intake.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly — when you call us, fill out a form, or email us — and a limited set of information about how you use this website.
Information you provide directly may include: your name, date of birth, phone number, email address, insurance carrier and member ID, information about who you are seeking treatment for, and any free-text notes you share.
Information collected automatically includes: your IP address, the pages you view, the links you click, your device type and browser, and the referring website. This is collected via standard server logs and a minimal set of cookies (see Section 6).
2. How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- Respond to your inquiry and verify your insurance benefits;
- Schedule and coordinate medical detoxification services;
- Communicate with you about admissions, treatment, or follow-up care;
- Maintain medical and billing records as required by law;
- Improve our services and website.
We do not sell your information to advertisers or data brokers. We do not use your information to target you with advertising on third-party platforms.
3. HIPAA notice for patients
If you become a patient at Believe Detox Center, your Protected Health Information (PHI) is subject to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and its implementing regulations. Our complete Notice of Privacy Practices is provided to you at admission and is available on request.
Key HIPAA points relevant to website inquiries:
- Information submitted via our insurance verification form before you become a patient is treated as confidential and stored under the same access controls as PHI;
- We do not disclose your inquiry to family members, employers, or anyone else without your explicit authorisation;
- You may request access to, or deletion of, any information you submitted via the form at any time by emailing [email protected].
4. Sharing and disclosure
We share your information only as follows:
- With your insurance carrier, to verify benefits and process claims;
- With healthcare providers involved in your care, with your explicit authorisation;
- With service providers who help us operate the business (e.g. hosting providers, secure email services), under written confidentiality agreements;
- When required by law, including court orders, subpoenas, or mandatory reporting obligations;
- In an emergency, to prevent imminent harm to you or others.
5. Data security
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. This includes encryption in transit (HTTPS for all pages), access controls limiting staff access to those with a job need to know, audit logs of access to medical records, and secure backup procedures.
No system is impervious. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by California and federal law.
6. Cookies and tracking
This website uses a limited set of cookies:
- Essential cookies required for core site functionality, including form security (CSRF tokens) and bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile);
- Analytics cookies measuring aggregate site usage to improve content and navigation. We do not use these to identify individual visitors.
We do not use advertising or social-media tracking cookies. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site (notably the insurance verification form) may not function properly without essential cookies.
7. California rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you;
- Request deletion of personal information we have collected;
- Opt out of any “sale” of personal information — we do not sell information, but this right exists regardless;
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise these rights, email [email protected] with the subject line “Privacy Request”. We will verify your identity before processing the request and respond within 45 days, as required by law.
8. Children's privacy
This website is intended for adults seeking information about substance-use treatment. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Adolescents aged 16 and 17 may submit the insurance verification form only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, who must sign any consent forms required before admission.
