If you’re reading this, we want you to know that you can make a positive impact in the world, even while taking your first steps into recovery. When you believe that recovery is possible and surround yourself with the right support, you’ll be amazed at the things you can accomplish.
Battling addiction can be difficult, which is why at Believe Detox Center, we strive to create a sense of home and community for everyone who walks through our doors. We firmly believe that you can live through the recovery process without feeling isolated or overwhelmed as you step into a new life.
In addition to our process groups and healing therapies, we regularly organize trips to the beautiful local beaches, museums, and more. This week, however, we scheduled a series of outreach events in the community and invited our residents to get involved.
Our first stop was with the Los Angeles Fire Department. We visited District 87 headquarters, where we brought coffee and pastries to the amazing firefighters there. The residents shared their testimonies, leaving a lasting impact. Our next visit was to the LAPD potluck dinner for the Devonshire District.
At this potluck, the residents and our outreach coordinator didn’t just enjoy a meal; they took the opportunity to present the center and engage with the community. Residents networked with community members and officers from Granada Hills, fostering a sense of belonging during a crucial moment of stepping into sobriety.
The following morning, we delivered coffee and pastries to the LAPD’s first shift at the Devonshire District. The residents shared stories, and the officers offered words of support. It was a truly heartwarming moment. To wrap up our Believe Outreach week, we prepped and delivered 300 meals to Skid Row.
As I write this, I am incredibly proud of our residents and their willingness to step up and take charge. The visit to Skid Row showcased the hearts of those in recovery. They didn’t just distribute meals; they shared encouraging words. One resident mentioned that being able to help out gave him a sense of value he had never felt before.
Overall, it was a fantastic week, and we look forward to continuing our engagement with the community and its people. We are committed to helping individuals take their first steps into sobriety.
