I cannot express enough the need for true collaboration in the recovery field. We are fighting a war against addiction, overdose, substance abuse, alcoholism and more and it is imperative that we come together to help save more lives.

As the outreach coordinator for Believe detox center, one of things I get to do is connect with other programs in order to collaborate and create more pathways to recovery. We understand the importance of connecting with other levels of care and treatment in order to help ensure that anyone that contacts us has a potential pathway to sobriety going forward.

One center, nor one program can solve all the problems addiction presents. This is why we believe in collaboration. It’s during our interactions that we learn from one another and support one another going forward when it comes to the war against substance use disorder. We must continue to develop new strategies and processes when it comes to the war against addiction.

During a recent visit to Ft. Lauderdale, I sat down with different professionals in the recovery field, visited NA and AA groups, made stops at different sober living homes, detox centers and even medical stabilization units in certain hospitals. Coming from California to the other side of the country in this case, I got to see first hand what recovery looked like in Florida and I’m grateful because through the experience I gained new knowledge of the field and how they do things.

I believe it is imperative that we take the timeout to learn about eachothers approaches as each state, city, etc does pose different circumstances and problems that have to be faced. Through conversation we can prepare one another, educate, inspire and strategize. We can begin to understand why a programs approach is what it is and possibly implement parts of what has made a program or treatment successful.

I want to encourage anyone reading this to understand that their are many ways to recovery. We at a believe are a medical detox/residential and we collaborate with sober living homes, intensive outpatient programs and more because we understand that our clients need treatment going forward in a lot of cases. The best way we can support someone at our center in recovery is helping them to connect to the different types of treatment at different levels that they may need. It would be hard to do this if we did not collaborate with other programs in the recovery field.

We are better when it comes to the war against substance use disorder working together. Creating almost a safety net if you will for people fighting to be and stay sober. It is truly a war against addiction, but as collaborations continue in the field of recovery the good news is the numbers actually went down when it came to overdoses this year.

If you or a loved one needs help battling alchoholism or substance use disorder, please don’t hesitate to call us at (818)488-1575 as our team is ready to help and of course if you are a program looking to connect to collaborate we would love to hear from you as well. Let’s keep making an impact together and help save more lives!
